On the edge of the 21st century, we were spending plenty of times
on new product development, taking a lot of trial and error to create
the new products that only we can do. Our company was originally set
up as an Ad agency in Tokyo, Japan, 1990. Our designer RYO TAKASUGI
has ever produced variety of works both 2D and 3D. He made a figure
doll featuring samurai movie with a sense of fun. That was the moment
of birth of the "ZATOICHI by Shintaro Katsu"
Before that the military action figure was the mainstream in Japan.
However the ZATOICHI got an unintended resonance. That was with detailed
head of actual actor, squatable foot, peculiar body of Japanese people,
Kimono and other clothes like geestring, Zori sandals, metal weapons,
etc… Our obsessiveness with details means that these figures
are not for kids but for sophisticated adults. The release of our
figures got a lot of media attention and they immediately took the
nation by storm.
"The reenactment of a scene in historical Samurai movies"
is the concept for our product. It resulted in winning the hearts
and minds of not only many Japanese movie fans but also the samurai
fans in the world.
Our basic philosophy of the figures is to
focus on the point at the aspect of the actor rather than the character
they played. It can be a trigger for the discovery of great actors
and their movies for you with our figures. We think it would be
also an exciting game to find VHS/DVD in which they have acted.
When we make a figure we gather information
about the actor and his movies inexhaustively - interviewing with
the actor and his family, visiting the filming site, collecting
huge of materials regarding the movie. Figures are 100% hand made
and never be cheap mass-produced. All figures are completed in our
company being inspired our souls.
Started in the ZATOICHI by Katsu shintaro,
over 20 products have ever been released on our Samurai action figure
series and some of them were already sold out. Our company will
continue to provide new samurai action figures only we can do. The
show must go on.
