Throughout
the course of Japanese history, red hued Yoroi have
come to represent the noble attributes of “honor”
and “valor.” One can find numerous tales
and accounts of red-clad warriors, staking their honor
and their lives in single combat, leading pivotal attacks,
and making valiant last stands. Those that don the red
armor become part of a greater tradition – one
shared with famous warlord clans such as Takeda, Ii,
Sanada and Maeda. This very armor’s tradition
was referenced, once again, when it was featured in
the recent Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe film, “The
Last Samurai.”
 The
Iyozane, literally in the proper name of the armor,
refers to the fact that this Yoroi is made up of hundreds
of small, handcrafted iron plates, instead of one flat
iron sheet. The quality craftsmanship of our artisans
can also be appreciated in the intricately crafted chainmail
sleeves and Haitate thigh-guards. Whether a fan of history
or Hollywood, this armor is an incredible, wearable
work of art, and will arrive in a beautiful, black lacquered
wooden storage box that doubles as a display stand for
your Yoroi.

30% of the listed price) may be charged, depending on
your measurements. It will take 1 to 2 additional weeks
to complete a custom sized suit of armor. |
